Come Grow With Us Program

Ends Spicy and Sweet!

The Jackson County Cooperative Extension Service in Collaboration with Berea College Promise Neighborhood held their final meeting for the summer on Monday July 20.  During this final meeting families made salsa out of ingredients grown in the garden and also learned how to make homemade ice cream in a bag.  Everyone enjoyed ending the program spicy and sweet!

The Come Grow with Us program participants grew vegetables and fruits on a tract of land owned by the Cooperative Extension Service.   Recipes were prepared by Clare Kinciad, Family and Consumer Science Agent and Verlene Congleton, 4-H Youth Development Agent for the Jackson County Cooperative Extension Service and participants using vegetables and fruits grown in their garden.  During this program they also received Compost Bins (Provided by Berea College Promise Neighborhood) and a lesson about how to care for your compost bin to take home and use throughout the year.  For more information on the Come Grow with Us Program please contact the Jackson County Cooperative Extension Service at 287-7693.
